You can have fresh eggs on a regular basis. Sometimes the eggs are still warm! You know exactly when they have been laid and where they are from. If you’re concerned about food miles, then keeping chickens will reduce that to zero.
Not only do chickens earn their keep but they really are a low maintenance pet. They need about as much care as a rabbit or guinea pig. If you get the right breed they make wonderful family pets. Chicken keeping can be a wonderful learning experience for the whole family. Hens are easy to tame and most breeds don’t mind being handled.
